ri's adventures

my little girl loves animals. she loves to read books with any kind of animals in them and goes crazy when she sees any animal while we are driving in the car.

while planning a weekend get-away, i knew the zoo had to be on the list! i was little worried the morning of the big day that we were going to freeze. as you can tell we were bundled up, but it was a perfect day.

ri's favorite was the elephants, of course. especially, when the old elephant put her trunk up in the air and let out an elephant call. ri's eyes went super big, then she starting calling back to elephant making an elephant sound.

it was a great day. now she loves animals even more.

design work: mother's niche printables

incase you have missed it check out the mother's niche blog where i share fun printables for kids.

kristina, the writer behind mother's niche shares so many great ideas for moms. one idea i love of hers is having a mommy book full of busy bag ideas for your young children. since i have a very busy, little girl, i have started my own busy bag activities.

the printables i share on the mother's niche are different activities i have created for my daughter. i love to design different activities for her and see her get excited over something i made. my daughter and i have enjoyed the time spent doing these activities together. if you want to start a busy bag for your kids these are the perfect activities, and easy to create.

this flashcard activity is great for those who are learning colors, how to read and spell color's names.

a fun scavenger hunt to look for fall elements and colors in nature.

a great activity to learn numbers and sizes. my daughter loves to play with this one again and again.

mix-n-match patterns to create many bright colored pinwheels.

click on the links below pictures to go to the mother's niche blog and download the printables.

you can check out more ideas and activities for your little ones on my kids activities pinterest board.

fall photo overlays

if you are like me you tend to take lots of pictures in the fall. i like the fall colors and where i live it is very pretty in the fall, especially this year. it is still nice and green.

i have beautiful trees in my yard, and every year i tend to get the same pictures. so this year i decided to add creative touch to my pictures. i created fall overlays for my pictures.

i am excited to print the pictures and use as artwork in my home during the fall season. also, print and add them to my project life. a quick and simple way to bring fall elements to your home and memory keeping.

if you would like to add a creative touch to your fall photos this year, i would love to share my fall overlays with you.
sorry to those who don't own photoshop or photoshop elements. i am not sure how to make it work for you, but to those who do, here's how:
• download overlay files
• open which overlay(s) you want to use & photo file in your photo editing program
• drag overlay onto photo file
• position overlay where you want on photo
• resize overlay edit > transform ("command t" for mac users) overlay to the size you want while holding shift to contain the proportion
• adjust the color in layer > layer style > color overlay
* i only own & use photoshop. photoshop elements may be similar, but not exact.

happy fall & happy creating!

gingerbread pancake + fall recipe card printable

i am not a huge fan of fall. i love the long, warm days and not having to wear a jacket every time i go outside. even though the warm summer days have come a gone, one thing i love about fall is the yummy homemade treats.

my favorite fall food is gingerbread pancakes. yes, it is a breakfast food, but it is so yummy it can pass as a treat.

they are easy to make and are a little different than your traditional pancake.

gingerbread pancakes
2 cups flour
1 tbsp sugar
1 tsp baking powder
2 tsp ginger
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cinnamon
dash of cloves
1/3 cup molasses
2 tbsp vegetable oil
2 cups buttermilk
2 eggs
combine all dry ingredients in a small bowl. whisk together eggs, oil, buttermilk, and molasses. mix dry ingredients. cook on a lightly greased griddle. serve with applesauce and cool whip or powdered sugar. and for you maple syrup lovers this pancake still taste delicious with butter and syrup.

want to add this recipe to your favorites? print gingerbread pancakes recipe here.

what is your favorite fall treat or food? i would love to hear! also, i have created a fall recipe card for you to share your favorite fall recipe with your friends and family. download and print fall recipe card here.
